Chiral Spirals

Chiral Spirals is part of the Conflux series, a body of work which experiments with novel representational approaches to develop the thematic concerns of the artist’s practice. These works experiment with fusing forms of Celtic knot patterns with variations of Arab and Islamic geometric patterns.

Interlaced knot patterns are characteristics of both forms of pattern design and these works create interwoven visual patterns which represent the complexities, commonalities, and tensions characteristic of hybrid identity. The works in this series are sculptural in form and manifest in a range of materials including MDF, acrylic, and digital models.
